Wellness in the time of Coronavirus

Greetings from Oakland, California.  I sincerely hope that you all are staying well doing this global pandemic. This is my third week of the shelter-in-place order and I’m grateful to be able to work from home. There are new challenges with ever-shifting priorities and keeping projects on track while responding to urgent crisis communications. I’m sure some of you can relate to the new reality of Zoom meetings, webinars, and having to sort through more email. If there’s a silver lining, we are forced to get out of our comfort zones and try something new. For example, I have been wanting to offer video yoga classes for a while now, and thanks to the lock down, I taught my first yoga class via Zoom.

What can we do to maintain some sense of wellness during the anxiety of coronavirus? Pause. Breathe. Stretch. Connect. I believe that this is a global wake up call for us to slow down. I am trying out new online offerings and share some of these below.  There are more popping up every day, so I will add to the online offerings section on this post. Yoga & Wellness Newsletter March

There have been so many event cancellations due to the coronavirus and I’ve been scrambling to adjust for changes in our new reality of “social distancing” in all aspects of life. Please bear with me. I am trying out new online offerings and will share some of these in my next newsletter. We’re in this together.

Over the last month, I’ve been focusing on raising money for a personal cause that I kicked off for my birthday. In the end, 22 people answered the call and made a donation either through my Facebook fundraiser or the VIP early bird link. I sincerely thank everyone who responded with such generous gifts!  Watch the video below to see how grateful our residents are for the support.

It’s all good, because my yoga and wellness practices—along with deep gratitude and faith—help get me through every challenge. I guess I am really practicing what I preach! Nonetheless, I look forward to things slowing down soon and enjoying the holidays with family. I hope you all are taking care of yourselves. Here are a few highlights of wellness events in the SF Bay Area, starting with my final yoga class of the year! Continue reading “Yoga & Wellness Newsletter November”
